I'm Serene and I'm a yoga instructor, Transformational Life Coach and Author. I have always been drawn towards discovering how to live better in union with universal forces. Like most people though, I found myself moving through life keeping busy. I dabbled my hands in various activities which included a brief stint working at a maximum security prison as an Assistant Superintendent, tram-guiding at the Singapore Night Safari, banking, teaching and at some point singing in a band. All these experiences enriched me as a person for sure. But, something was still missing. At the end of each day, I often found myself scrambling for a sliver of time to gather my thoughts and reset my energy. I was also struggling to squeeze in time to sleep better, eat right, exercise and take better care of my health.
And so, my journey with yoga started when I realised that I had to stop running away from myself. It came from the realization that doing more does not equate doing better. After experimenting with Ashtanga Yoga and Hot Yoga in Singapore, I found myself completing a RYT 200 yoga training course on the foothills of the Himalayas, Rishikesh (yoga capital of the world). Through my practice, I was better able to see the beauty of embracing wherever I was in life, with all my seeming ‘imperfections’. The complexity of fumbling through a worldwind of daunting choices was beautifully simplified to the decision of choosing to be laser focused on the task ahead, one breath at a time. The sense of calmness that came with the practice of yoga had a profound spillover effect in possibly every other area of my life.
There is still a common misconception that you cannot do yoga if you're 'inflexible', 'too-old','too fat', if you cannot do 'acrobatics' or because there just isn't 'enough time'. But yoga is not just a series of twists or contortions. It doesn't matter where you start. All that matters is what you want to work towards. That mindset is at the heart of your transformation. The great mystic Osho said, "Don’t move the way fear makes you move. Move the way love makes you move. Move the way joy makes you move.” I couldn't agree more.
Wishing you great health and happiness,
Hatha-Yin Yoga Classes
Hatha Yoga is based on the philosophy of balancing our inner worlds according to the balance of the cosmic world through its focus on awareness, stability and balance. Yin Yoga, on the other hand is based on the Taoist concept of Yin and Yang (opposite and complementary principles in nature). Yin is the stable, unmoving, hidden aspect of things; Yang is the changing, moving, revealing aspect. In a world where we are bombarded with stimuli 24/7 (think laptops, phones and deadlines), our bodies and minds struggle to deal with the sheer density of material it has to process. Much of this gets trapped in our bodies as stress, tension and toxins. While Hatha Yoga’s dynamic movements build strength and balance, Yin Yoga provides us with an excellent outlet to dissolve the accumulated knots in our bodies through a series of long-held, passive stretches.

Guru Mahi - Director of Mahipower Yoga Centre (Goa/ Dharamsala)
"Serene completed her teacher training course with me at the capital of yoga, Rishikesh. She is energetic and enthusiastic by nature. She has grasped not only asana practice but also very deep aspects of yoga. During her training, I found her to be friendly, humorous and wise. I sincerely wish her a great yoga teaching experience ahead."
Acharya Yogesh - Director of Yoga Shivoham (Goa, India)
"I met Serene while she was taking part at the Mahi Yoga teacher training in Rishikesh. I was there in quality of assistant teacher and I could follow Serene day by day. Since the first practical class, I could see her passion for yoga. She had an amazing embodiment in the asanas. Her body looked like she was dancing and flowing from one posture to another. I had the feeling she had a long-life of practice beyond, before she took part in the TTC. During this course, I could see her improvement also in other techniques such as meditation and pranayama. I totally recommend her as a teacher. She has mastered the technique and she has a pleasant energy. Her sweetness will make you just feel comfortable."
Sonia Lindia - Teacher at Acroyoga (Barcelona, Spain)
